How Hillcrest is supporting tenants with the cost of living

We know many tenants are feeling the pressure of rising costs. That’s why we are continuing to focus on helping people maximise their income, reduce energy bills and get the right support when they need it.

We launched a Tackling Fuel Poverty Together strategy in 2025 and so far, our teams have helped tenants gain over £4 million through benefits, grants, bill reductions and tailored advice. This includes:

  • Over £3 million secured through our Financial Wellbeing Team
  • Over £1 million saved through energy advice and support
  • 668 Heating demonstrations to help tenants understand and manage their heating systems

We’ve also been reaching out directly to tenants who may be missing out on income, helping pensioners and young people claim what they’re entitled to.

Alongside this, we continue to invest in our homes by improving energy efficiency, exploring solar power and making sure as many properties as possible are warm and affordable to heat.

We’re also supporting communities in the long term, with apprenticeships, community events and partnerships that help people gain skills, find work and access local support.
