Apprentice Testimonial – Ross Young – Housing

Ross is a current apprentice with us here at Hillcrest and is doing his Business Administration qualification, while working with our Aberdeen Housing Team. Below Ross shares some insights into his time with Hillcrest so far.

What’s your name and what apprenticeship are you undertaking? – My name is Ross Young, and I am completing the Housing apprenticeship in Aberdeen.

What are your interests/Hobbies? – I enjoy playing, watching and coaching football. I also enjoy going to the gym and spending time with family and friends.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship? – I enjoy learning new skills and meeting new people/teams. I also enjoy learning from people with lots of experience.

What has been your favourite memory since starting at hillcrest? – My mentor meetings with my mentor Craig.

What advice would you give someone thinking about starting an apprenticeship? – Go for it, get yourself involved in as much as you can and don’t hesitate to ask lots of questions.

What do you hope to do in the future? – Continue to work in Housing either with Hillcrest or out with.

How has Hillcrest supported you since starting your apprenticeship? – Everyone I have worked with is so supportive and inviting. I have check-ups with my line manager, mentor meetings, young person meetings and team meetings to make sure I am supported.

What made you apply for an apprenticeship? – I have always been interested in earning a qualification while developing real life skills, experiences and routines
