Hillcrest Futures has been recognised at the NHS Tayside Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards, with its Angus Mental Health Peer Support Service playing a key role in the team that received the Bronze Award in the new Tayside Together category.
Service Manager Jayne Fotheringham attended the event at the Apex City Quay Hotel last Friday, where the team’s work supporting the Angus Mental Health Enhanced Community Support (ECS) Hubs was celebrated.
The Tayside Together Award acknowledges teams that work collaboratively across services to deliver coordinated health and social care support. The award recognised the joint efforts of multiple organisations, including Hillcrest Futures, in delivering the ECS Hubs, ensuring people in Angus receive the right mental health and wellbeing support at the right time.
The Angus Mental Health ECS Hubs have received over 10,000 referrals for individuals needing help with mental health, self-harm, substance use and wellbeing. Staff from multiple services, including Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), Angus Integrated Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service (AIDARS), Psychological Therapies, Peer Support, and Community Link Workers, work together to review referrals daily and allocate them to the most appropriate service.
Jayne was joined at the awards ceremony by partners from across Angus, including:
Reflecting on the achievement, Councillor Julie Bell shared: “Brilliant team, so chuffed for them all for all their work on the ECS Hubs within Angus Health and Social Care Partnership. Look out for The Beacon coming soon.”
This recognition comes as Hillcrest Futures and Angus HSCP prepare to launch The Beacon, a new community wellbeing centre in Angus, which will further develop integrated mental health and wellbeing support in the county.
The NHS Tayside STAR Awards received a record-breaking 1,082 nominations, highlighting the dedication of health and social care teams across the region. NHS Tayside Chair Lorna Birse-Stewart praised all nominees, while NHS Tayside Chief Executive Nicky Connor described the winners and finalists as “truly inspiring”.
