To mark the campaign, we’re shining a spotlight on our fantastic team of workers at the Angus Young People’s service. The service has four main support areas that work out of the Forfar office. These are Early Intervention and Family Support, Drug and Alcohol Support, Peer Mental Health Support, and Relationship, Sexual Health and Parenthood.
Today we are focussing on our Relationship, Sexual Health and Parenthood service to find out more about it and the impact it has.
The Relationship, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) service supports young people across Angus. It is a targeted service for young people aged 12 to 18, and our team delivers one-to-one support, group education and drop-ins with schools and community groups in the area.
The one-to-one support is for high-risk young people needing a personalised support plan due to the high-risk behaviours they are showing in relation to their relationships and sexual health.
The group education sessions are a targeted approach for young people who have missed out on mainstream RSHP education for any reason, such as being a young carer or school refuser. These sessions can be tailored to the needs of the group, including what topics are covered as well as the level of understanding and prior knowledge being accounted for.
The drop-ins are a universal provision that allow young people to access support around initial issues such as access to condoms or pregnancy testing, and signposting to other services if necessary.
