Welcome to our Career Ready students

We are excited to welcome our three Career Ready students as they start their internships with us.

The Career Ready programme connects young people with employers and mentors to develop workplace skills, confidence and help them prepare for their future careers. As part of the programme, the students get a four-week paid internship within their mentor’s organisation.

Meet the three students below.

“Hi there, my name is Keir Vials, and I am excited to start my internship with Hillcrest during Career Ready. During the next four weeks I’ll be working with the Communications and Marketing team. I hope this experience will help me decide what I would like to do after high school, while also gaining the skills required for the real world of work.”

“Hi, my name is Cara, and I’m currently a student at Morgan Academy. Through the Career Ready programme, I’ve been placed with Hillcrest Homes, working alongside Hillcrest Energy Advice Team (HEAT). In the future, I plan to go into the police or uniformed services, and I believe the skills I gain from this placement – such as communication, empathy, and responsibility – will be valuable in helping me succeed in my chosen career path.”

“Hi, I’m Louie Ritchie and I’ll be working with the Hillcrest Enterprises team for my internship. I have chosen four skills that I’d like to improve on, these are: creativity, interview skills, problem solving and overall, getting myself ready for the world of work. I hope to go into full time work after improving on these skills so I can start earning money.”
