Inspectors found that people were thriving in environments shaped around their preferences and routines. Staff were praised for knowing people well and tailoring support so individuals could lead full and meaningful lives. Families echoed this confidence, describing their relatives as very happy and well supported.

The inspection highlighted that people were encouraged to build or maintain their independence. This included support with planning daily activities, managing appointments and, where appropriate, taking responsibility for their own medication. Access to community healthcare professionals was described as strong and consistent.
A significant theme in the report was the smooth transition of supported individuals from Brechin who had been displaced by Storm Babet. Throughout the disruption, people continued to be supported by familiar staff. This provided a steady thread of reassurance while a new home at Orchard Way was secured. Inspectors noted that people are now settled in their new surroundings and spoke positively about their new home. They added that the move had been managed in a way that reduced distress and promoted wellbeing.

Staffing was highlighted as another key strength across the three services. Teams were described as stable, well organised and flexible, with rotas shaped around what mattered to the people using the service. Staff reported feeling supported and informed and said they enjoyed their work.
Families praised the commitment and warmth shown by staff, with one commenting: “Nothing is too much for them. The staff are excellent, every single one of them.” Managers at the services were described as visible and knowledgeable and were noted as being an integral part in maintaining good standards of care for people.

John Booth, Director of Hillcrest Futures, said: “These outcomes reflect the care and attention shown each day by our teams at Orchard Way, Silverway and Doocot Park. The positive feedback from the people we support and their families is a testament to the trusting relationships staff have built and to the commitment they bring to every interaction. We will continue strengthening our services so people can live well in homes where they feel safe, respected and able to thrive.”
