Celebrating Scottish Apprenticeship Week!

From 3 to 7 March 2025, we’ll be joining the nationwide celebration of apprenticeships and the incredible impact they have on businesses, individuals, and Scotland’s economy.

Scottish Apprenticeships are more than just training—they’re a game-changer. They help our business build the skilled workforce we need today and future-proof for tomorrow, all while giving young people real opportunities to earn, learn, and succeed.

This year’s theme of Made for Business demonstrates how apprenticeships are made for business, people and Scotland’s economy.

To mark the week, we have spoken to some of our current apprentices to hear their views on apprenticeships, skill development and more.

We’ll be shining a spotlight on some of our Apprentices, and what they enjoy most about earning while they learn at Hillcrest. We asked Lyle Gray, Construction and the Built Environment Graduate Apprentice what advice he would have for a new Apprentice, and his thoughts are:

“My advice to new apprentices is to have willingness to learn and the humbleness to re-learn. Treat the areas of the job you think you already understand with the same amount of effort as those you don’t. You’ll be surprised at how often you’ll learn something new or useful”.
