Monday 2nd March – Friday 6th March is Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2020, a week celebrating the benefits apprenticeships bring to businesses, individuals and the economy.
Throughout the week we heard from former and current apprentices across Hillcrest to hear about their experiences and the benefits of doing an apprenticeship.
On Monday apprentice plumber Ian told us how his apprenticeship is setting him up well for the future.
On Tuesday we heard from former apprentice Claire, who told us how she has developed her career since completing an apprenticeship in business administration to her current role as HR advisor.
On Wednesday we spoke to Matthew and Bob. Former apprentice Matthew told us how he benefited from completing an apprenticeship in business and admin.
Head of Hillcrest Maintenance Bob started his career as an apprentice joiner back in 1987. In this video he tells us about the many benefits apprenticeships offer, as well as Hillcrest’s apprenticeship programme.
On Thursday former apprentice Natasha told us how her apprenticeship has given her the opportunity to start a career in the ever-growing housing and private rented sector.
To conclude the week admin trainee Kirsty told us how her apprenticeship has helped build her confidence and enabled her to gain transferable skills to work in different departments within Hillcrest.
