Hillcrest Futures’ boutique charity shop, Past Present Futures, marked its fifth birthday this week with a special late-night shopping event at its Gray Street location in Broughty Ferry.

Customers enjoyed a lively evening of music, raffles, nibbles, and a fantastic 50% off sale, as the shop celebrated half a decade of bringing affordable pre-loved designer and high street fashion to the local community.

Since opening in 2020, Past Present Futures has become a firm favourite with both locals and visitors, known for its stylish finds and welcoming atmosphere. All proceeds go directly to Hillcrest Futures, a Scottish charity supporting over 2,500 people across Angus, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow, and Perth and Kinross. The charity provides essential services for individuals with a range of support needs including learning and physical disabilities, autism, mental health, homelessness, and harm reduction and recovery.

The shop was also delighted to welcome Hillcrest Futures’ chairperson, Alan Russell, who dropped by during the evening to show his support and have a browse.

Shop manager, Tricia Perrie, said: “We’re incredibly proud to reach our fifth birthday. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our loyal customers and generous donors who keep our rails filled with high quality stock. I’d also like to give a special mention to our amazing volunteers who make everything possible. Over the past year alone, our volunteers have donated more than 3,000 hours of their time – we couldn’t do it without them.”

Looking ahead, the team is excited for the return of their annual fashion show, Catwalk for a Cause, taking place on Sunday 2 November 2025 in Dundee. Now in its fourth year, the event promises an afternoon of fashion and entertainment, including a pop-up shop filled with exclusive donations, live music, an auction, raffle prizes and a runway show starring volunteer models.

Tricia added: “Catwalk for a Cause is always a brilliant event. It’s a great way to support the work we do while enjoying an afternoon of fashion and fun.”

Save the date – 2 November 2025 – and keep an eye on our shop and social media for ticket announcements coming soon.
