Our Ellengowan redevelopment has won an award, being named as an “exceptional” project at the annual RIAS Awards by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).

Judges praised the development, which was designed by Collective Architecture and constructed by Campion Homes, applauding its inclusive and contextual approach, which balances modern needs and aspirations with heritage preservation.

The vibrant and sustainable neighbourhood that has been created was another key factor in the Ellengowan redevelopment scooping the top accolade.

The redevelopment project is replacing 124 temporary homes, which had been built in the 1920’s and were only intended to have a lifespan of 20 years, with 130 modern energy-efficient homes.

The first phase was completed in Spring 2023, with demolition of the last remaining 1920’s homes now complete to make way for the second phase of the project to begin.

The jury for the 2025 RIAS Awards was chaired by Jessam Al-Jawad (director, Al-Jawad Pike), who visited the projects alongside fellow judges Caroline Grewar (programme director, V&A Dundee), Craig Hamilton (founding director, Craig Hamilton Architects) and Ann Nisbet (director, Ann Nisbet Studio).
