Important Changes to Radio Tele Switch (RTS) Electricity Meters – ACTION REQUIRED!

Posted: April 2, 2025

IMPORTANT NOTICE

On 30th of June 2025, if you have electric heating and an older Radio Tele Switch (RTS) electricity meter, the signal which controls your heating and hot water will be turned off due to the BBC RTS radio signal shutting down.

This will mean one of the following will happen:

   • You will lose the use of your heating and hot water as it will not charge up

• Your heating and hot water will be switched on constantly and will be very expensive to run

It is essential your energy supplier changes your meter before the end of June so your heating and hot water aren’t affected. Suppliers are replacing all RTS meters free of charge.

This Ofgem video provides more information, and also outlines what to look for to check if you might have an RTS meter: https://youtu.be/_CsUPBvlts4?si=tkM8UnkDi5Sk9WwQ

Please note – Hillcrest is not responsible for our tenants’ meters, but we want to make sure you know the importance of this, and the impact this will have on you. We have posted information about this on our Facebook page, and all tenants with electric heating have been informed of this via letter and CX Feedback.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist you to arrange meter changes.
