Hillcrest strengthens its commitment to sustainability with the release of its second ESG report

Posted: December 5, 2024

Leading affordable housing provider, Hillcrest, has reaffirmed its dedication to environmental, social, and corporate governance with the release of its second ESG report, building on the strong foundation laid by last year’s inaugural document.

Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Reports are an essential tool for organisations to outline their efforts in areas beyond financial performance, including social and environmental commitments. This latest report further highlights Hillcrest’s ongoing efforts towards corporate transparency, sustainability, and effective governance.

Continuing to adopt the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing (SRS), Hillcrest measures its ESG performance using comprehensive qualitative and quantitative criteria across a range of categories.

Reporting against this framework annually allows the organisation to showcase and track its sustainability and progressive decision-making as the organisation continues to develop and evolve.

In a further development over last year’s report, Hillcrest has had the latest report scrutinised by international business consultancy service, Ritterwald, with the report successfully exceeding their approval standard.

Dave Boyle, Hillcrest Chair, commented: “Our second ESG report reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing people’s lives and our environment through sustainable practices.

“It also demonstrates our continuing commitment to driving positive change – not only within the organisation but also among peer organisations and the wider housing sector. We are proud of the progress we’ve made and remain dedicated to leading by example.”

Angela Linton, Hillcrest Chief Executive, added: “This year’s report is another transparent insight into how we are creating long-term value for our communities, minimising our environmental impact, and ensuring the resilience of Hillcrest as an organisation.

“We hope it continues to inspire others to join us in building a sustainable future.”
