Hillcrest Futures’ homeless services receive glowing inspection report

Posted: October 30, 2024

Hillcrest Futures’ homeless services in Edinburgh and Glasgow have received high praise in a recent Care Inspectorate report, which rated the services as ‘Very Good’ for supporting people’s wellbeing and for leadership.

The report, based on an inspection carried out in September, highlighted the positive impact the service has on residents’ health and wellbeing.

The services, which provide housing support and care at home for individuals who have experienced homelessness, were recognised for creating a safe and supportive environment. Residents described staff as being knowledgeable, skilled and empathetic, helping them to feel respected and listened to.

A key strength of the services, as noted in the report, is the strong partnership working with community and healthcare services. This collaborative approach ensures that residents can access the help they need, from securing permanent housing to receiving healthcare and mental health support.

One resident shared: “The staff are respectful and see me as a person. They help me focus on my strengths and what I can do to bring about changes. They are good at listening, never judgemental or patronising.”

The report also emphasised Hillcrest Futures’ commitment to involving residents in service improvements, allowing them to actively shape the support they receive. Regular resident meetings and involvement in staff recruitment were highlighted as positive initiatives.

John Booth, Director of Hillcrest Futures said: “We are incredibly proud of the positive feedback from the Care Inspectorate and from the people who use our services. Our team is committed to empowering individuals to achieve their goals. We will continue to build on this success to ensure we provide the best possible support to those in need.”
