Hillcrest Futures’ first ever charity shop, Past Present Futures, was highly commended in the national New Charity Retail Awards 2020 last week for its achievements over the past year.
The boutique charity shop, located in Broughty Ferry, received the commendation in the most prestigious category of the awards, Outstanding Charity Retailer.
The thirteenth annual awards ceremony, organised by Charity Retail Association, were held virtually and had over 200 people in attendance.
Hillcrest Futures managing director, Joy Dunlop commented: “We are delighted to be recognised with this accolade and wish to thank all our staff, volunteers and customers who have supported us so well during this challenging time.
“Receiving this commendation is a real testimony to their enthusiasm and dedication and it wouldn’t have been possible without them.
“Past Present Futures didn’t have an easy start in the retail world; with a five month delay in opening due to dry rot being found in the shop, and then being placed into a nation-wide lockdown the same week we had planned to have our VIP opening event.
“Eventually in July we finally opened our doors and achieved fantastic sales in the first three months alone, despite the limitations brought on by COVID-19. With a number of other charity shops in the area we always had one main aim and that was to be unique and provide a boutique shopping experience to our customers.
“All of the money we raise in the shop goes to our Hillcrest Futures services to support people with additional needs to live full and vibrant lives.”
Hillcrest Futures provides a wide range of services throughout Scotland in the areas of physical and learning disabilities, autism, and older people. Further services include supporting positive mental health and wellbeing, homelessness and drug, alcohol and recovery services.
The boutique charity shop is located at 104 Gray Street, Broughty Ferry and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am till 4pm. For more information on Past Present Futures visit www.instagram.com/hillcrestboutique.
