An appeal set up by Hillcrest Futures’ drug and alcohol service has amassed hundreds of toiletry essentials for vulnerable people in recovery from substance use in Dundee and the surrounding area.
The toiletries, which include shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant and sanitary products, have been sorted into 50 bags containing a range of items.
Hillcrest Futures support worker, Kelly Robb who helped organise the appeal said: “This is the second year we have ran the appeal and it has been brilliant to see the continued support which has led to many items being donated.
“The cold winter months can be particularly difficult for those in recovery, and many lack basic toiletry essentials that others take for granted.
“It’s been extremely rewarding handing out the items to people and making their day that little bit brighter.”
The toiletry bags are being distributed to those accessing Hillcrest Futures’ harm reduction service at the Cairn Centre in Dundee, a drop in hub and place of contact for people to get the help and support they need to overcome substance misuse.
