A few of our Hillcrest Foundation trustees recently took a tour around some of the community based projects supported by the Foundation.
The first stop on the tour was a visit to Hillcrest Futures holiday let facility, Rockwell. This holiday home, based in the Coldwell area of Dundee, is available for let by individuals with support or care needs, along with their carers and families.
This was followed by a stop at the Hillcrest Community Hub, where Julie Horan and Billy Muir gave an inspiring update on the range of life enhancing and creative workshops available to people with support needs within the community. The group enjoyed listening to a drumming class taking place during their visit.
Next was a trip to the Learning Place in Hilltown where Hillcrest Futures project workers – Iona Summerton, Niamh Kelly and Karen Brown showcased examples of how money raised through the Foundation has supported and enhanced the lives of local adult learners. From cooking classes to providing advice on CV writing, the Learning Place provides people with the skills they need to build confidence and increase their sense of well-being.
The last stop on the tour was the much anticipated visit to Hillcrest’s very own boutique charity shop, Past Present Futures, in Broughty Ferry. Ready to splash their cash, the group were given a wee tour of the shop by store manager Tricia Perrie, and a number of not to be missed bargains were snapped up!
The tour took place on Wednesday 25th May and was led by Clare McNally, Fundraising Officer. The attendees included:
– Mark Percival
– Linda Webster
– Angela Murphy
– Robyn Rae
– Dylan Austin
– Katy Wilson
– Laura Bremner
– Kirsty Beggs
Special thanks go to Graeme Keillor, who was the tour mini bus driver for the morning!
