Expanding Naloxone awareness: Training Bank of Scotland staff

Posted: May 6, 2025

Hillcrest Futures is committed to increasing awareness and accessibility of Naloxone, breaking down stigma, and equipping more people with lifesaving knowledge. Naloxone is a medication used to temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

As part of this mission, Louise Doctor, Hillcrest Futures Operations Manager, and Nadine Kelly, Hillcrest Futures Harm Reduction Development Officer, recently provided Naloxone training to a group of Bank of Scotland staff.

This session was arranged by Ian Collins, Area Director for Agriculture in Scotland and Northern England, who also sits on the Board of Directors for Hillcrest Enterprises. Recognising the importance of overdose awareness in rural and agricultural settings, Ian invited Louise and Nadine to deliver training at his team meeting.

Nadine commented: “It was great to see such interest and openness from the Bank of Scotland team. The more people who know how to use Naloxone, the more lives we can help save. It’s a simple thing to carry, but it can make a huge difference.”

This marks the initial stage of a wider rollout, aiming to equip more Bank of Scotland staff with Naloxone and encourage them to carry it while working with the public.

By expanding Naloxone awareness in different sectors, Hillcrest Futures continues to push for a more informed and prepared society in the fight against overdose-related deaths.
