Hillcrest is ambitious and committed to continue to participate in the delivery of new housing supply despite the difficult funding environment with diminished subsidy available.

All funding mechanisms, procurement models and tenure mixes are currently being explored to maintain a healthy level of new housing supply.  Hillcrest’s development programme for 2014/15 to 2015/16 gives commitment to funding up to 650 new homes across Tayside and Edinburgh, including those developed in partnership with Northern Housing Company and Perth & Kinross Council.  We are extremely pleased to be delivering so many new homes at a time of restricted government subsidy.

Included in the programme outlined above we are on site in Edinburgh with 145 units which are being delivered via the National Housing Trust.  The Hillcrest Group continues to look at leasing as yet another way to increase the number of homes we manage and to provide more tenure choice to those in housing need.

Mid-Market rent isn’t “new”.  Our subsidiary, Northern Housing Company, has been providing discounted rent properties for the last 80 years.  However, it’s now possible to attract grant funding for new Mid-Market Rented homes and this has been a particular area of growth for the Hillcrest Group.  Mid Market Rent continue to be a focus moving forwards with hopes of completing 300 new Mid-Market Rent homes from 2014/15 to 2015/16.  We recognise this as a valuable and valid form and we now have Mid-Market Rent properties available in Tayside and Edinburgh.
