The Beacon, which opened its doors on Monday 30th June 2025, offers vital support to people across Angus who are experiencing emotional or mental health distress. The centre, open 12 noon to 12 midnight, every day of the year, provides a safe and compassionate space for anyone aged 16 and over, including carers and family members.
Managed by Hillcrest Futures and commissioned by Angus Health and Social Care Partnership, the service supports individuals in person, by phone, text, email or social media, ensuring help is accessible in the way that best suits the person seeking it.
The SIM cards will enable The Beacon to stay connected with people who may otherwise struggle with digital access, particularly those who are marginalised or facing difficult life circumstances.
John Booth, Director of Hillcrest Futures, said: “Connectivity is a lifeline for many of the people we support. These SIM cards will make it easier for them to stay in touch, access help, and maintain the relationships and services that are so important to their wellbeing. We’re very grateful to Vodafone for their support through the charities.connected programme.”
The SIM cards will be distributed to individuals in need as part of The Beacon’s ongoing support offering, helping reduce digital exclusion and improve access to care, communication and information.
Located at Kirk Square in Arbroath, The Beacon can be reached by phone on 0800 135 7899, or by text on 07418 632399. Support is also available by email and social media.
