A 30-strong Hillcrest team took on the formidable Banchory Beast Race on Saturday 21 September, raising over £8k and counting for the Hillcrest Foundation.
The 10k course saw the brave Hillcrest team members trudge over open moorland, swim through bogs, plunge into a loch, and tackle a wide range of obstacles from walls through to cargo nets.
The team saw staff come together from across Hillcrest Homes, Hilcrest Enterprises, Hillcrest Futures and Hilcrest Maintenance, with the fantastic sum raised going to the Hillcrest Foundation, and ultimately towards a range of great causes.
The Hillcrest Foundation seeks to improve people’s lives and create positive futures by helping to reduce inequalities, isolation and improve health and wellbeing across Scotland. The Foundation does this by providing grants to vital charities and community organisations.
Mark Percival, Chair of the Hillcrest Foundation, said: “Following the success of the Kiltwalk the past few years, the Beast Race offered a new opportunity for staff to take up an exciting opportunity and raise money for the Hillcrest Foundation.
“Not quite knowing what to expect, the staff that signed up for the challenge have done a fantastic job in both rising to the challenge and in their admirable fundraising efforts.”
Clare McNally, Fundraising and Grants Officer, added: “This was the first time the Foundation has supported an obstacle course race as an official fundraising event, and everyone involved is delighted with how successful it was, and with everyone’s fundraising efforts.
“The Hillcrest team members may have finished the course muddy and wet, but there were plenty of big smiles! It was a fantastic achievement from everyone involved in organising and taking part, and everyone’s combined efforts ensured it was a huge success!”
