Your Guide to Welfare Reform

The UK Government’s Welfare Reform Act became law in March 2012 and over the next year the biggest change to the benefits and welfare system since the 1940s will start to take place. These changes will not only impact you as a tenant but will affect Hillcrest as your landlord.

If you are of working age and receive benefits or tax credits then you need to be aware of the changes. For example, if you rely on Housing Benefit to help pay your rent you need to be aware of the change to how your benefits will be paid and the amount you will be entitled to in the future.

We have produced an overall guide and a number of fact sheets detailing some of the changes to benefits. You can find these within the Related Documents section on this page.
