The Job

We are looking to recruit two IEP Senior Support Workers to join our Harm Reduction team.  This post will be based in Dundee but will support people from across Tayside.

 

You will provide one-to-one support delivering clean injecting equipment and associated paraphernalia to people who inject drugs in Tayside. In addition, you will provide informal education around prevention of Blood Borne Viruses and overdose.  You will deliver key interventions around safer injecting and offer alternatives to injecting whilst carrying out Dry Blood Spot testing and contributing to the distribution of Take Home Naloxone.

 

You will empower individuals through group activities that will motivate people to make positive changes in their lives and support their recovery from drug and alcohol dependence. 

 

You

The successful candidate will have experience of working with people on a one-to-one basis as well as experience of working within a multi-agency team.  You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies to support individuals.

 

You will be self-motivated and able to work under your own initiative.

The Service

Our outreach service provides support to people with learning disabilities who live in their own home and/or who attend Day Opportunities.  We focus on supporting service users to achieve positive outcomes.

 

The Job

This post involves supporting two females in Blairgowrie – one 2 days per week at Day Opportunities, the other within her own home and to access community activities. The post is subject to shift working and weekend working. There is no requirement for night or sleepover shifts.

 

The Candidates

You should have a positive flexible attitude to life along with SVQ2 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to undertake study to achieve this. Experience / knowledge of people with learning / physical difficulties. It is desirable as is a clean driving license.

The Service

Dundee & Angus Homecare Services provide personal care, housing support and therapeutic visits to people in their own homes, most of whom are elderly. We provide support to our service users who may have either learning difficulties, physical disabilities and or mental health issues, anything from personal care to attending appointments. 

 

The Job

Duties include assisting and supporting clients with personal care, moving and handling tasks (including use of hoists and equipment), household tasks, shopping, cooking, meal preparation and administration of medication. Previous experience in the care sector is desirable but not essential.
